Vehicles Carrier Charter

Vehicles carriers, often called PCTCs (pure car and truck carriers), move new and used cars, trucks and wheeled machinery on several decks.

What they carry

Cars, vans, trucks, buses and wheeled or tracked machinery, which are driven on and off the ship and secured on its decks. Capacity is often counted in vehicles or car equivalent units, so give both the number and the size mix.

What to prepare

The type and number of vehicles, their sizes and weights, the ports, the laycan and any special needs such as high or heavy units.

How it is chartered

Usually a voyage charter for a shipment, or a time charter for a regular service.

How a vehicle carrier works

A pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) is a tall ship with many decks. Vehicles drive on and off through ramps, and the decks can be raised or lowered to fit higher vehicles. The size is given in car equivalent units (CEU): modern ships carry about 4,000 to 8,500. Some decks are strong enough for trucks, buses and construction machines, called high and heavy cargo.

Trades and what to say

The main flows go from the car-making countries in Asia and Europe to markets in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa. In your request give the number and the kinds of vehicles, their dimensions and weights, the ports and the dates. Used vehicles and machines need their own details, because they differ in size and condition.
